Manicure Tips

manicure tips The word manicure is from the Latin term - 'manus' and 'cura'. The former means hand and the latter means cure. Thus, manicure implies curing and maintaining the hands. Though many feel it is a luxury, many more ladies are understanding the necessity of getting a regular manicure done. And the best part is that it can be done at home, rather than spending at a spa or salon.

Here are some manicure tips that can followed for an at home manicure experience :

  • First remove the old nail polish from the nails. The nail polish should be removed in a movement starting from the base and moving towards the tip of the nail.
  • The next step is to cut the nail to required length and shape, which maybe square or rounded.
  • Then file the nail for a smooth edge.
  • Now dip the hands into warm soapy water. One can use a hand conditioner in the water, in order to soften the hands. This even softens the cuticles. Keep the hands dipped for about ten minutes.
  • After ten minutes remove the hands from the water and dry them with a soft hand towel. Then begin to push back the skin and cuticle of each fingernail.
  • Then use a cuticle remover, following the instructions on the bottle.
  • then carefully use a cuticle nipper to remove the dead cuticles and hangnails.
  • Then brush the nails gently and dip them in the soapy water for five minutes.
  • Then use a hand cream and massage the hands - each ofr about five to ten minutes.
  • Then wipe the hands and buffer them using a nail buffer.
  • Wipe them and apply nail polish; advisably just a top coat.
